CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Owing to the huge demand for extensions for abstracts, the Committee has decided that abstracts will now close on 17 July 2016.  We thank all who have submitted their abstracts prior to 17 June as the selection process has commenced for those received to date.

The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise streams of the presentation for potential inclusion into the conference program.  The text of the abstract should be a single paragraph, no more than 200 words.  An abstract is not a formal publication.  Therefore, your abstract should not contain figures, references, grant acknowledgement, etc.

The Foundation is proud to be hosting the World Federation for Mental Health International Conference 2016 in Cairns this year. Click on the links below to submit an Abstract or register for the Conference.

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Please refer to the instructions below when submitting an abstract for the “World Federation for Mental Health International Conference 2016”.

Papers

Papers will be scheduled as oral presentations or poster presentations and the Conference Committee reserves the right to decide on format presentation.  BOTH FORMATS ARE CONSIDERED OF EQUAL PROFESSIONAL MERIT.  Each paper presentation will be allotted no more than 20 minutes including 5 minutes for comments and discussion.

Posters

Posters provide an avenue for informal discussions among colleagues and interested browsers.  Poster presentations require the preparation of a visual display of the essential contents of the paper (e.g. abstract, short narrative, enlarged pictures or graphs and a brief conclusion).  The poster session is viewed as an excellent modality to graphically or pictorially represent your organisation’s empirical data (e.g. structure or client base).  All authors are expected to be in attendance at their posters during the scheduled times for questions.  Maximum size for poster is 1m x 1.2m.

Workshops

Workshops are intended to be instructional and skill-building.  They will be scheduled for 90 minutes.  All workshops proposed should include a clear list of training objectives; indicate their preferred number of participants and style of venue preferred (theatre, round table, small group, etc).  There may be one or several instructors per workshop, and the role of each instructor should be stated explicitly.  Training materials to be used should be described in as much detail as possible.  A copy of these materials may be included with your submission.  This detail will help the Committee decide how to schedule workshops.  It will also help conference attendees to decide which workshops are best suited to their needs.  Workshop proposals may be converted into paper sessions by the Committee, based on time and space constraints.

PRESENTERS

Once presentations and workshops are confirmed, it is expected that the named presenter will attend the conference to make the presentation.  As a commitment to attend and support the Conference, accepted presenters must register and pay.  The early bird registration fee will apply for presenters, but must be paid by 19 August 2016.

ENQUIRIES
